Our story
Mark Stevens founded SYD Plumbers in 2010 after a decade as the senior on-call plumber at a large Western Sydney firm. The experience taught him two things: most emergency plumbing companies treat after-hours calls as profit-maximisation opportunities, and most Sydney homeowners are stuck choosing between operators who gouge on price or operators who simply don't show up. We were built to be neither.
The model is straightforward. Rostered overnight crews on shift loadings instead of freelance contractors at premium rates. Live dispatch desk staffed by humans, not voicemail. Vans pre-stocked with the common Caroma, Rheem, and Rinnai parts so 80%+ of jobs finish on the first visit. Standard emergency rate any hour of any day for genuine emergencies — same Tuesday-morning price at 3am Sunday or Christmas Day.
Sixteen years on, we cover all 30+ Sydney metropolitan suburbs from a network of base locations across the Eastern Suburbs, Inner West, North Shore, Western Sydney, and Sutherland Shire. The original Parramatta van is still on the road. The 4.8/5 aggregate rating across 247 verified reviews has held steady for over three years.
What we believe
A burst pipe at 3am Sunday is the same standard emergency rate as a burst pipe Tuesday morning. We don't surge-price emergencies. The structural reason: rostered crews on shift loadings have a relatively flat cost profile, so the pricing reflects real operational economics rather than maximising what we can charge.
If a tap cartridge replacement fixes the issue, we don't quote the whole-house re-pipe. If the hot water unit needs an element and not a replacement, that's what we recommend. We've lost short-term revenue this way more times than we can count, and kept long-term customers more times than we can count.
During a major storm event with 90-minute queues, we tell you it's a 90-minute queue. We don't promise 30 minutes to lock in the booking. Customers respect honest answers and remember the companies that delivered them. Overpromising is short-term thinking.
Photos before and after, itemised invoices with our licence number prominent, written likely-cause statements on letterhead. Every NSW major insurer accepts our documentation without additional reports. We supply it as standard, not as an extra.

Lead Plumber & Founder
NSW Fair Trading licensed plumber and gasfitter, twenty-plus years across the Sydney metropolitan area. Started SYD Plumbers in 2010 after a decade as a senior on-call tradesperson at a large Western Sydney plumbing firm. Operations Manager
Joined the team in 2014 to systematise dispatch operations as we scaled into 24/7 coverage. Background in logistics and customer service. Manages the overnight dispatch desk roster and the parts inventory system that lets our vans complete 80%+ of jobs on the first visit.
Senior Gasfitter
Licensed plumber and gasfitter with seventeen years across the Inner West and Eastern Suburbs. Specialises in heritage gas appliance work and complex gas line replacements. Handles the bulk of our gas leak emergency call-outs.
Senior Plumber
Licensed plumber and drainer with twelve years in commercial and residential work. Trained as a CCTV inspection specialist; runs our drainage diagnostics. Particularly active in Western Sydney slab leak detection work.
